Tetra Pak milk carton
Tetra Pak has refused to comment on a media report that it is set to launch milk cartons that change colour when left out of the fridge for too long.
At a press briefing at Anuga FoodTec 2012, a spokeswoman for the €10.36bn turnover firm told DairyReporter.com that the innovation was a “long-term project that we don’t want to speak about the moment”.
She declined to confirm that details carried within a Financial Times article on Monday were accurate – apparently within the context of an interview with Tetra Pak CEO Dennis Jönsson.
This stated that Tetra Pak was working on a chip to be embedded in packaging, which could be fitted into cartons on retail sale as soon as next year.
This could provide information via a scannable label, showing, for instance, how long the carton had been left out of the fridge, the paper reported.
